There are many ways to get contractor names for your work that needs to be done, Google, a friend or co-worker, a relative and about a million other places. So how do you choose the right one?

Check with your local Better Business Bureau, only choose contractors with an A+ rating, don’t worry there will be a few.

From here you can see how long the business has been around and get contact information for your State Department Of Commerce.

Contact your State Department Of Commerce and ask them about your list of contractors.

Find out if they have all their needed licenses to do work in your state and to pull building permits in your state.

Call local supply houses and ask them what they think of your list of contractors.

These are the companies who your contractor pays for their materials, if there are problems you should know about it. These are also potentially some of the companies who can put a lien on your property if your contractor fails to pay them for your project materials.

Visit the company website.

Rule 1: If your a real company you have a website, an informational website, not just a single “landing page”.

Look for previous project pictures, testimonials, helpful information, industry and manufacturer associations.

Is your potential contractor certified as an installer for the products they use?

Now you can call for appointments, you should have a really good list of reputable contractors that can handle your project properly. These companies will treat you and your project right from beginning to end.

Meet with your potential contractor. This is important!

You need to know that you and your contractor are on the same page, there should be no surprises with what is expected.

Get a feel for your estimator, are they pushy, are they to laid back, are they messy, do they seem to know they are talking about, do you feel you can trust them, are they a local company?

If you do you feel you can trust them great, if they are a local company that is even better. They will actually be there when you call. There is no need to go any further, these are the people you should have do the work. It may be the first contractor you have spoken to or the third, you have already put them through some major qualification requirements. These are the types of companies that deserve your work, will do it right and will be there when you need them.

Generally speaking, new shingled roofs should last upwards of 20+ years. However, many factors, such as proper installation, climate, and ventilation, impact the life of your roof.

Even if your roof shows signs of the symptoms mentioned above, you may not need a total roof replacement. All-State Roofing, Inc. can give your roof a thorough examination and let you know if you are in need of a new roof, or just a few repairs.
