Why remove the snow or ice from my roof?

How much does ice weight?
A one inch layer of ice weighs approximately 5lb per square foot. The average roof is approximately 2,500 – 3,500 square feet. That’s about 12,500lbs – 17,500lbs of ice! If you have ice damming then you may have even more weight on your roof and could potentially have THOUSANDS of pounds in your gutters or bottom edges of your roof!
How much does snow weight?
Meteorologists estimate that about 12 inches of snow is equivalent to one inch of ice. Wet and packed snow weighs more. So if you have 12 inches or more of snow on your roof you could have 12,000lbs plus on your roof!
How do I get the snow or ice removed from my roof?
